This family line begins with John George Strahle, born 1826 in Wuerternberg. He is first identified in the 1850 census of Tuscarawas Co., OH, single, stone mason. He and his wife, Veronica (Fannie) Slahbaugh, moved to Owen Co., IN. Seven of their 9 known children were born in Ohio. In Nov., 1870, George was killed in a cistern accident. Given his history as a stone mason, one would assume that it occurred while building or repairing a cistern. His wife and family relocated to Sullivan Co., IN. A lot of the history of Fanny has been gleaned from the book "Descendants of Jacob Hochstetler"by Harvey Hostetler. In it while detailing the linage of Fannie, he writes, "One of the sons of Fannie Strahley wrote that in deference to their mother's wishes they would not furnish information."Here is their family.
